Home Wildfire Defender was founded by James Young in the wake of the catastrophic Los Angeles fires this last January, 2025 where over 16,000 homes were lost and the city burned for over a month, leaving thousands of residents, many of them under insured, homeless. The scale and scope of the disaster created an "ah ha" moment for James. "What happened in LA could happen in Marin, and right here in Homestead Valley, under the right conditions.

Certified by the National Fire Prevention Association as a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist, James is available to inspect your property and provide you with actionable strategies to harden your property against wildfire. He is also available to facilitate your home selling process by streamlining compliance with current wildfire disclosure regulations. Finally, James represents homeowners facing insurance policy cancellations or premium hikes.

Haley practices estate planning and business law.  She earned her Juris Doctor from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.  She is licensed in both California and Nevada. 

Haley has over ten years’ experience as an Estate Planning and Business Law Attorney.  In addition, having a background as a Wealth Planner and a Trust Administration Officer for banking institutions, Haley deeply understands the field of estate planning and wealth management inside and out.  She has substantial education and training in the areas of mediation, business succession planning and working with blended families.  She enjoys helping families and small businesses.  

Haley has two children, one at Old Mill School.  She is very involved with the community through the Mill Valley Rotary Club and Old Mill School.  She loves nature and enjoys all the beauty of Marin with her family.

For nearly 20 years I have worked with teens and adults in a variety of settings (wilderness therapy, boarding high school, outdoor leadership programs, community mental health and trauma clinics, college counseling etc.) to help them navigate challenges and build more meaningful relationships in their lives. I am trained as a generalist, meaning I am comfortable working with a wide array of mental health challenges. However, I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, and ADHD in teens and adults. Likewise, I provide in-person psychological assessments for ADHD for adults aged 18 and older.
