We are thrilled to welcome Topanga Canyon-based artist Danielle Hutchens to Poet and/the Bench! Danielle is influenced by nature and form and her approach to abstract painting is simultaneously organic and considered. Danielle's artwork is modern and down to earth with its neutral palette, pops of colors, and shapes, lines, and textures inspired from the world around her. Style and beauty are inherent in her compositions. The artist uses a combination of natural pigments, acrylics, oil pastels and charcoal; she sources natural pigments from stones collected on hikes that she determines to have color, grinding them to powder and using water and walnut oils on raw canvas to let their color make art. These foraged and hand made pigments are archival.
