Woander - Grand Opening

Woander, a new family play store dedicated to inspiring creativity, imagination, and connection through games and storytelling, is thrilled to announce its grand opening on Saturday, April 19, at 73 Throckmorton Avenue in downtown Mill Valley. The celebration kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:00 PM, followed by an afternoon of free activities from 12:30 to 5:00 PM.

Guests will have the opportunity to get a sneak peak into the storyworld and characters of The Wylding Woods, Woander’s story world setting for immersive experiences.  Designed for kids ages 5–12, this magical, interactive journey invites young adventurers and their parents to step into a world of imaginative story play.   Featuring live performers, original puppetry, and collaborative challenges, The Wylding Woods encourages curiosity, courage, and teamwork—making every child the hero of their own story.

The grand opening event promises hands-on fun for the whole family, including:

    •    Puppet Greeters from The Wylding Woods

    •    Puppet-Making Station to make your own fantasy puppet

    •    Open Gameplay with curated board games for all ages

    •    Live Magic Show filled with surprise and delight

“We created Woander to be more than a store—it’s a portal for imaginative experience,” says Matthew Purdon, Mill Valley resident and founder of Woander. “We’re excited to welcome families in, not only to discover new games and toys, but also to engage in creative classes, game nights and immersive experiences with us.”

Guests can also rent the Woander Bag, a backpack adventure for parents to take an imaginative hike with children ages 4-9 and create magical memories together.  This is just the first of many more experiences that will become available at Woander.

The Woander store offers a carefully curated selection of games, books, toys, and puppets—each chosen to spark creativity and shared joy. Whether through a spontaneous board game or a full immersive adventure, Woander invites families to connect in playful, meaningful ways.

The grand opening event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to stop by, explore, and experience the wonder for themselves.
