Description

Love's Labour's Lost, set in the kingdom of Navarre, opens as the king persuades three companions to join him in a three-year quest to avoid women and devote themselves to study. Their vow is immediately tested by the arrival of the Princess of France and her ladies, as each man quickly falls in love. A series of disguises, mistaken identities, witty arguments and comic subplots ensue, with a twist at the end that complicates the usual marriages that end Shakespeare’s comedies. This production explores how the vows of the king and his entourage—from intermittent fasting to celibacy to “maxxing” their minds and bodies—resonate with the current manosphere, while the princess and her posse just want to get down to business and have a good time doing it.
