(PST)
Description
Take your cyanotype practice to the next level in this focused intermediate workshop designed for artists and photographers looking to refine their technique and expand creative possibilities. Building on the fundamentals of the process, this session dives deeper into the craft and chemistry behind producing beautifully consistent and expressive cyanotype prints.
Participants will learn how to run exposure tests to achieve optimal density and contrast, explore methods for creating and calibrating digital negatives for more precise image-making, and experiment with a range of toning techniques that transform Prussian blue into rich browns, purples, greys, and split-toned variations. We’ll work hands-on with real examples to understand how paper choice, coating density, UV intensity, and post-processing steps influence the final print.
This workshop is ideal for those who have basic cyanotype experience and want to produce more intentional, archival-quality prints or expand their creative toolkit. You’ll leave with calibrated test strips, toned prints, and the confidence to integrate digital and analog methods in your own cyanotype workflow. All specialized materials are provided—just bring a few images you’d like to print!
